Break-Thru

I love David Longstreth and the Dirty Projectors. This video is one more reason why. The concept is original and there are some MVP shots (2:13 and 2:27).

Virtual Choir

Old, but good. This is a video of people from all walks of life coming together on the internet for a shared vision that inspires them. Led by conductor Eric Whitacre.

Arena

After reading Sapiens, I've been thinking a lot about how we perceive humanity's progress, especially in terms of our drive for growth, fostering cultural myths, and creating increasingly complex infrastructures. Our determination to multiply our own species is in our DNA, but it's also what's leading to vast environmental destruction and our downfall as emotional creatures.

This video is cool because it makes you feel small and connected at the same time. With repetitive shapes and hundreds of locations, it shows us that the way we build, transport, and grow is its own kind of ritual. It's also seemingly never-ending.

Melting Memories

Refik Anadol is part science enthusiast, part artist. His data visualizations are nothing short of incredible. Melting Memories is a project he created using datasets from Alzheimer's Disease research.

Here's a more in-depth explanation of the project and process.

Hash2Ash

I'm really just in love with the visual trick here. It looks like magnetic magic.

Artopia

"Kuwaiti game developer Omar Khalil is in the process of building an augmented reality and location-based app called Artopia, which allows users to create and save 3D paintings out in the world. Others can then encounter the paintings, which are timestamped and show the username of the creator." - This Is Colossal

What I Love About It:

This dude created an app that makes AR art accessible and sharable. There's a lot of potential for cool partnerships. And while I think scavenger hunt concepts are a little 2013, I could see some fun activations coming out of this.

What I Love About It:

I hadn't seen anything like it before. By keeping the subject directly in the middle of the two cameras and cutting back and forth, the team created a stunning effect that kept me interested throughout the film.

Constellaction

What I Love About It:

Using some cheap plastic parts and Arduino, these artists created a super-modular interactive installation. It's easy to imagine these parts sprawling up the side of a building, or potentially submerged.

What's even better is that it doesn't ask viewers to jump through hoops like installing apps to engage with it. Each part is independent, and all you need to activate it is the flash on your phone.

New Page Who Dis?

Thanks for stopping by. I recently decided to put my creative inspiration in one place. If you're a creative, I hope this stuff can inspire you too. If you're a recruiter, I hope it can give you an idea of the kind of work I'd like to make, and what my taste is.

When it comes to finding inspiration for concepting activations, stunts, and the like, I try to stay away from AdWeek. And while I may give props to some agency work, what you'll find on this feed will mostly be pieces pulled from art sites, tech conferences, or other corners of the internet that feature cool people doing cool things.

That's all for now.
